The Connemara brand 


Fly-fishing dates back to 400BC. Based on ancient principles, enhanced by innovation, fly-fishing today is a passion, an artful challenge and a science. 

The fly-fisher decides on tactics, tools and approach with infinite care to compensate for the unpredictability of the fish and the waters in which they live. Meticulous planning ensures that strategies provide for unexpected turns in the tide. Being too conspicuous shows a lack of understanding. The experienced fly-fisher improves the probability of being successful by blending in with the environment.

Once positioned on the bank or in the water, those who have mastered an optimal mix of patience, tenacity, appropriate tools, technical skills and the ability to accurately interpret conditions and forecast outcomes will enjoy success.  Success, however, humbles them, because they acknowledge the greater scheme of nature within which they operate. With respect and gratitude, they conserve the environment and the experience for future generations.

But tactics derived from scientific thinking is only half of the equation. The challenge to tie the perfect fly is pure art, driven by the passion to improve on what was yesterday’s ultimate solution.
